Richard Göransson linked with SEAT PWR team for 2017 STCC

Five-time STCC drivers’ champion Richard Göransson has admitted he is in talks with the SEAT dealer team PWR Racing about driving for them this year in the reborn STCC, as the championship switches from Solution-F to TCR cars.

Göransson won his fifth title last season after a season-long battle with Polestar Cyan Racing team-mate Robert Dahlgren, but both drivers were left without a drive after STCC AB announced the change to TCR regulations for 2017, with Volvo unable to continue as they have no car available.

“I won’t deny that I haven’t spoken to Daniel (Haglöf, team principal) about this,” said Göransson to TouringCarTimes.

“We have known each other for a long time and their programme is interesting, but nothing is on paper and I have further options that I am looking at for 2017, so we will see. I have to say that as a five-time STCC champion, I am very glad to see the big interest in the new STCC with TCR for this season.”

PWR Racing has announced just one driver of their four cars of the 2017 season; team co-owner Peter Wallenberg Jr.
