Walkinshaw Racing reveal new livery and title sponsorship

Walkinshaw Racing has revealed a new livery for the 2017 Supercars season, now running under the Mobil 1 HSV Racing banner compared to last year’s Holden Racing Team.

“We have two of the most recognisable and longstanding partners in the sport – Mobil 1 and HSV, who have come together as the naming rights sponsors of our new team. Together with the extensive expertise in the Walkinshaw garage, we believe we are in a perfect position to kick-start our new chapter,” said team owner Ryan Walkinshaw.

The team will run two Holden Commodores for James Courtney and Scott Pye, who replaces Garth Tander who has moved to Garry Rogers Motorsport.

The team lost the Holden Racing Team name to Triple Eight Race Engineering ahead of 2017 after holding it since 1990. But driver Courtney believes the fans will still see them as HRT.

“I think are lot of people, they still see the Holden Racing Team as our team in that we have all the history,” said Courtney to Supercars.com.

“We built the history, not so much me, but the Walkinshaw family and the team. They built that legacy for Holden. I think the die hard, hardcore fans know. I think they’re going to hang around for sure. There’s a chance to grab some new fans and some back away from other places.
