Rob Huff fastest again in afternoon testing at Monza

2012 champion Rob Huff again topped the time sheets in the afternoon test session at Monza in his Münnich Motorsport Citroën, finishing just under three-tenths of a second ahead of the rival Citroën of Mehdi Bennani, while WTCC newcomer Yann Ehrlacher was third fastest for RC Lada.

The 37-year-old was on top of the time sheets throughout most of the day. The Brit had set his best time of 1:52.888 in the morning session, while his time of 1:53.039 was also unbeaten in the afternoon.

There were a few late improvements, with RC Motorsport Lada driver Yann Ehrlacher swapping third position back-and-forth with the second-best placed Sébastien Loeb Racing Citroën of Tom Chilton.

Yvan Muller ended up as the fastest of the Polestar Volvo drivers in fifth, 1.3 seconds off the pace, with the four-time champion deputising for Nicky Catsburg in his role as development driver during today’s test.

Ryo Michigami was the best placed of the three Honda drivers in ninth, with the Japanese manufacturer having a disrupted test day, with components for the new upgraded Civic WTCCs arriving almost throughout the day.

Norbert Michelisz and Tiago Monteiro completed the fewest laps and were classified in 11th and 12th.

The teams continue testing at Monza tomorrow but in an untimed private test session.
