Monza replaces Monaco on the 2017 TCR International Series calendar

The TCR International Series has confirmed that the planned event supporting the Monaco Grand Prix will no longer take place, with a replacement round taking place two weeks’ earlier at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.

The support event of the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo was one of three races announced in support of the Formula 1 World Championship this year, and despite a letter from the Automobile Club de Monaco stating that no discussions had taken place, the event was still set to take place as the arrangement was with Formula 1 promoter, Formula One Management (FOM).

However, with FOM changing hands over the winter, with Liberty Media now in charge of Formula 1, it’s understood TCR has now opted to change its plans and schedule a race at the ‘home of Italian motorsport’ instead.

The race at Monza takes place on 13th-14th May, one week after the first round of the European leg at Spa-Francorchamps.
