Dusan Borkovic rescues a strong fourth from a tough weekend in Georgia

Dusan Borkovic picked up fourth place in Race 2 to cement a great weekend for the GE-Force Alfa Romeo squad at the Rustavi International circuit in Georgia, after the Serbian struggled in qualifying and found himself starting in 13th position.

Borkovic crossed the line in fifth after a tough battle with Craft-Bamboo’s James Nash, but was later promoted to fourth following a penalty for the other Craft-Bamboo SEAT of Hugo Valente.

“It was a successful first weekend,” said Borkovic.

“I am not satisfied with my speed but I used my skills to reach ninth position from 13th in Race 1 and fifth in Race 2. After the misfortune in qualifying everything ended well.

“I have to prepare for Bahrain now because the next round is in two weeks already,” he said. “I want to congratulate my team-mate (Davit Kajaia) on his first victory in TCR International and at his home race. This is a big day for Georgia, and Davit made a great show for his fans. It is also a big victory for Romeo Ferraris, the team that develops the Alfa.”
