New BMW team set up to look after Glock and Blomqvist in 2017

BMW Motorsport will enter the 2017 DTM season with six M4 DTM race cars managed by Teams RMG and RBM, with a hybrid crew from both supporting Timo Glock and Tom Blomqvist.

The Bavarian manufacturer announced in December last year that Team RMG would be responsible for the cars of reigning champion Marco Wittmann, Augusto Farfus and Timo Glock, with Team RBM running the cars for Maxime Martin, Bruno Spengler and Tom Blomqvist.

The squad has now rearranged its operations, creating a new hybrid team called RMR, which will manage Timo Glock’s and Tom Blomqvist’s M4 DTMs.

BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt said: “The crews from RMG and RBM sharing the workload for two of our BMW M4 DTMs this year is a totally new type of teamwork. The teams will work together as RMR for the cars driven by Timo and Tom, which is new. The fact that all teams and drivers are on an equal footing remains an important part of our DTM philosophy.”

All DTM teams and drivers will gather at Hockenheim this week for the final pre-season collective tests.
