Alan Gow clarifies that no discussions will take place about TCR UK

Alan Gow, MSA chairman and BTCC series director, has confirmed that he won’t be involved in discussions about a potential TCR series in the United Kingdom.

Marcello Lotti, CEO of WSC, the promoter of the TCR International Series, told a press briefing at the most recent round in Georgia that he had a meeting with Gow in the coming days, where one of the topics would be the potential for a TCR series in the UK.

Although Alan Gow confirms he has spoken to Lotti, Gow has told TouringCarTimes this is only in his capacity as president of the FIA Touring Car Commission, and not at any point was the discussion about a TCR series in the UK.

Gow also added that any TCR launch in the UK would be raised with the relevant club that would be associated with the series, and that as MSA chairman he wouldn’t be involved, not least because of the conflict of interest due to this other roles at the FIA and as the promoter of the British Touring Car Championship.
