Dusan Borkovic laments “terrible” tyre wear in Bahrain heat

GE-Force’s Dusan Borkovic came third in this morning’s free practice in Bahrain. The Alfa Romeo driver was half a second shy of Team WRT’s Jean-Karl Vernay, but the Serbian is more interested in the tyre wear issues he experienced in the scorching heat of the desert.

“It was quite a good session for us, but it was just a test for everybody”, said Borkovic. “The tyre consumption at this circuit in such hot weather is terrible and I think after one lap the tyres are dead, but it’s the same for everybody.”

Despite the heat and the tyre wear, Borkovic believes the performances of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR will perform well in the desert: “We are in a good position and the Alfa works well on this circuit so we will see what we can do in Free Practice 2.”

Borkovic is seventh in the championship standings, 24 points shy of team-mate Davit Kajaia.
