Radical changes to the car leave Stefano Comini optimistic for Bahrain

Stefano Comini set the fastest time in his Comtoyou Audi RS 3 LMS in the second free practice session. Although the Swiss was in qualifying trim, the defending champion is still pleased with the progress made with the car compared to this morning.

“I’m very happy because with Comtoyou Racing and Audi technicians we completely changed the car”, said Comini. “We did an amazing job. Before, (the car) was undriveable but now it is turning properly. We put new tyres on the front and I did the best lap at the beginning.”

Comini believes that the qualifying simulation the team decided to do may have made him up to five tenths quicker, but he is still optimistic ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying.

“We wanted to try a qualifying simulation with a cold engine and a cold driver. I think we were the only ones that did that and it was probably worth about half a second. It’s not important to be fastest in practice, but it’s good for the spirit.”
