Dashboard issue in Bahrain qualifying leaves Jean-Karl Vernay frustrated

Team WRT’s Jean-Karl Vernay is unhappy with his sixth position, as the Volkswagen driver believes he could have been as high as third in the session had he not had a dashboard problem, which prevented him from changing gears at the correct amount of revs.

“That wasn’t so good”, admitted the Frenchman. “Q1 was okay but in Q2 I had a dashboard problem and so I couldn’t see any information about revs or gears. I had to upshift and downshift according to my reference points and I touched the rev limiter a few times.”

Vernay is not unhappy, but rather frustrated, as he lost the chance to start further up the grid. The Leopard-backed driver still believes he can take two podiums in Bahrain: “Sixth is okay but I’m a little bit frustrated because third was only two tenths in front. I think we can still get two podiums, we have to make a good start and then see where we are.”
