Davit Kajaia happy to settle for fifth despite ballast, and suspension damage

Championship leader Davit Kajaia finished fifth in his GE-Force Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR in Bahrain, also scooping up a point in the process. The Georgian hit a kerb too hard in Q1, but he recovered in the second segment.

“I’m quite happy with my result because of the extra 30kgs of weight I’m carrying”, admitted the Georgian. “In Q1, I made a mistake when I cut the kerbs too aggressively and I damaged my front tyre and my suspension, because my steering wheel wasn’t straight.”

The second qualifying session was trouble-free for the Alfa Romeo driver, which leaves him happy as he is in a good position to score more points for the championship: “In Q2, I improved my lap time and I will try to keep the position because for me it’s important to collect more points.”
