Roberto Colciago not thinking about the title despite championship lead

Roberto Colciago took his second career win in the TCR International Series. The M1RA driver took advantage of a great getaway to get into the lead, but he claims his race was not as easy as it may have looked from the outside.

“It might have looked easy, but it wasn’t”, said the Honda driver. “The start was really good and after four or five laps, there was a good gap behind me.”

Saving the tyres in the first few laps and making no mistakes was crucial according to the 2016 TCR Italy champion: “I didn’t push so hard at the beginning of the race so my tyres were still good for the second part. It’s really important not to make any mistakes at this circuit, I made one small mistake when I braked at the end of the straight, but afterwards I made no more.”

As for the championship battle, Colciago is not looking at the standings yet, despite taking the championship lead courtesy of his win: “In the championship, there are many, many good drivers and we are always within two or three tenths, so it is much too early to be thinking about that.”
