Roberto Colciago still concerned with burning feet in Bahrain heat

Roberto Colciago put his M1RA Honda Civic TCR in fourth place in qualifying in Bahrain, which will become third on the grid of Race 1 due to an engine change penalty for pole-sitter Mat’o Homola. Although the 2016 TCR Italy champion is happy with his pace, he admits he didn’t expect the Opel Astra TCRs to be so quick.

“That was pretty good because we were on the pace”, said Colciago. “To be honest, I didn’t expect the Opel cars to be so fast, they were on another planet.”

The scorching heat of the desert took its toll on the Italian’s feet, as he got a burn from the hot pedals. Colciago is still concerned that the problem could present itself again: “I put something on the pedals after Free Practice to try to protect my feet but I don’t know what it will be like in the race after ten laps.”
