Mat’o Homola holds on to win Sprint Race 3 at Spa

Mat’o Homola claimed victory for the DG Sport Compétition Opel team in the first race of the day at Spa-Francorchamps, holding off Comtoyou Audi’s Sheldon van der Linde and Team WRT’s Rob Huff to claim the victory.

Homola started from pole and had a great start, while Maxime Potty had a slow getaway in the Team WRT Volkswagen from fourth and ran into trouble at La Source.

Rob Huff meanwhile had a lightning start from eighth on the grid, and was up to second position, running just ahead of Sheldon van der Linde’s Audi.

Homola had quickly built a two second lead due to the first corner dramas, but Huff and van der Linde were soon closing down on the Slovakian.

Huff was unable to keep back the Audi RS 3 however, with van der Linde taking second position from the Briton on lap five.

The two would join Homola for an exciting three car fight to the finish, with Homola holding on to take victory, with van der Linde just half a second behind and Huff down in third.

Edouard Mondron worked his way up to fourth in the Delahaye SEAT ahead of Enzo Guibbert in the lone Boutsen Ginion Honda.

Willem Meijer finished sixth in the Bas Koeten Audi, with Aurélien Comte seventh in the DG Sport Peugeot, with Pierre-Yves Corthals in the Milo Volkswagen eighth.

Romain de Leval was ninth in the Delahaye Volkswagen, with Brett Lidsey tenth and first in the Renault Clio Cup class, with three non-finishers in the TCR class.

Race 4 begins imminently with the grid as per Race 3’s result.
