Race against time for Honda and Peugeot to repair for Spa Race 3

The Boutsen Ginion Honda Civic TCR of Stéhane Lémeret and and Peugeot 308 Racing Cup car of Kevin Abbring were the two cars that came off the worst in Race 2 for the opening round of the TCR Benelux series at Spa-Francorchamps, with Boutsen Ginion and DG Sport working hard to repair the cars for Race 3.

Both Abbring and Lémeret were eliminated from the race, with what Lémeret called unnecessary contact whilst fighting for tenth position.

“I had a contact with a rally man who doesn’t know where to go on the track,” said Lémeret to TouringCarTimes. “I was beside him and he came at me at the corner as if I was not there. I’m not angry, but it’s sad that this has happened at such a high-level of race, he should be a bit more careful.”

The team are working hard to repair the Civic TCR ahead of Race 3, where Tom Coronel will take the wheel of the car which should start third on the grid.

“I hope they can fix the car for Tom. We had a technical problem which we don’t know yet. I touched the front-left wheel and then had a problem with the toe, and then I had a problem with the down-shift and up-shift, and then smoke started to appear in the car. We don’t know if our problem was a result of the contact, but with the contact my two races were completely ******.”

DG Sport Compétion are also working hard to repair the 308 ahead of the second pair of races, when Aurélien Comte is due to take over the #8 Peugeot.

The team have resorted to sourcing spares from a 308 road car for the TCR-specification car, which starts seventh on the grid for Race 3.
