Two Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCRs expected to enter from Misano

Two Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR cars are set to be fielded in TCR Italy. The Romeo Ferraris-built cars have been bought directly from the factory, and will mark the return of the manufacturer from Arese to Italian touring cars after almost twenty years of absence.

The cars have recently been sold to be driven by two undisclosed drivers, and TouringCarTimes understands the cars will skip the first event of the season at Adria this weekend, joining the championship from Misano onwards.

The two Giuliettas will be absent from the grid at the curtain raiser at the Veneto-based track due to the tight time schedule, as the drivers are hoping to enter the championship and challenge for top positions immediately.

Alfa Romeo, Audi, Honda, Opel, Volkswagen and SEAT are all set to be represented on the TCR Italy grid, although teams and drivers who will use the Astra TCRs are yet to be announced. A field of more than ten cars is expected for this year, which is a huge step forward compared to the low grid numbers seen last year.
