Benjamin Lessennes not getting carried away with free practice pace

Boutsen Ginion Racing’s Benjamin Lessennes was fastest in this morning’s free practice session at Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian is aware that the result is not too meaningful, though, as the track conditions and the new tyres played a major role in the local drivers topping the timesheets.

“Topping the rankings is a good start, although it is not meaningful at all”, said the Honda driver. “We raced here two weeks ago with the TCR Benelux, in pretty similar conditions, so it was a good preparation and we had the set-up done. Still, the track was more slippery today, we haven’t approached the lap times of two weeks ago.”

Newcoming drivers have up to 16 new slick tyres available for use, whereas regular drivers can have a maximum of 10 new tyres, plus another 10 already registered for a previous event.
