James Nash satisfied with Spa weekend, but wants to do better

James Nash took four points for Craft-Bamboo Racing after finishing eighth in the second race of the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. Having started 16th, the Brit feels he should be satisfied with the results under the circumstances.

“I am satisfied in the sense that I got everything I could out of the package this weekend”, said Nash to TouringCarTimes.” Eighth is pretty good under the circumstances, but it’s a shame it started in such a bad way. We need to go away, analyse everything and come back stronger in Monza.”

In such a drama-filled race, Nash also witnessed the fight between GE-Force’s Davit Kajaia and Zengo’s Ferenc Ficza, which ended up playing in his favour.

“There was a touch between Kajaia and Ficza, the green car was on the outside and I think the Alfa just ran out of front grip and understeered into him. I guess that was a racing incident, but I’m happy it benefitted me.

After this troubled weekend, the Brit is hoping data analysis will allow him and the team to improve on what they have, as the Lukoil-backed driver feels the SEAT is still not on par with other cars.

“We hope we can make up for this bad weekend next week at Monza. Like I said we need to analyse the data. We are not as strong as some other cars, and I think the performances show that, but we are a good team. There was no session in which we have dominated or such like, it’s been difficult to just collect point at every race. It’s been especially hard and we need to find that extra something to go back to winning ways again.”
