Johan Kristoffersson dominates Alastaro qualifying

Johan Kristoffersson has started his comeback Scandinavian Touring Car Championship weekend in the best possible way for Kristoffersson Motorsport by being fastest in all three qualifying sessions at Alastaro in Finland.

The 2012 STCC champion was close to five tenths faster than championship leader Robert Dahlgren in Q1, although it should be noted that Dahlgren is carrying weight while Kristoffersson is not, as well as the Volkswagen driver having a better tyre situation.

Kristoffersson’s team-mate Fredrik Blomstedt was third fastest, with Lestrup Racing Team driver Albin Wärnerlöv continuing to show strong form to claim fourth position. PWR Racing’s Daniel Haglöf rounded off the top five ahead of the best Finnish driver in the form of Joonas Lappalainen.

Last race winner Fredrik Ekblom only managed eighth ahead of Brink Motorsport driver Micke Ohlsson.

Ekblom was back on form in Q2, being less than one tenth of a second behind pole-man Kristoffersson in second position. Haglöf improved to third, with Blomstedt fourth and Dahlgren fifth as the final driver making it on to the final session Q3.

And once again, there was no stopping Kristoffersson who beat Haglöf by 0.261 seconds in Q3.

Blomstedt occupied position three, with Ekblom in fourth and Dahlgren fifth.

The first race of the weekend starts at 11:45 CET tomorrow. Q1 results below.
