Majority go early with soft tyre at Oulton Park

More than half of the field have elected to run the softer compound Dunlop tyre in the opening race of the weekend at Oulton Park.

Perhaps driven by the questionable weather forecasts at the Cheshire circuit, no fewer than 19 drivers elected to run the soft tyre at the first opportunity, including the BMWs of Andrew Jordan and Colin Turkington at the sharp end of the grid.

Pole position man Matt Neal however has elected to run the softer tyre in race three as has Honda team-mate Gordon Shedden, with points leader Tom Ingram also holding off to race three.

Just three drivers – Dave Newsham, Martin Depper and Ash Sutton – will run the tyre in race two.
