PWR Racing protest about scrutineering process in the STCC

PWR Racing lodged a protest over the weight distribution of the competitor cars in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, including the three Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR race cars of main rivals Kristoffersson Motorsport, sparking controversy.

”We have had a protest against us from the PWR team, on all of our cars, for incorrect weight distribution. The scrutineering process limited our options to preparations and that affected Blomstedt unfortunately,” said Tommy Kristoffersson, team owner of KMS, referring to Blomstedt’s retirement from race two due to a broken driveshaft.

PWR Racing however stated that the protest was not only for the KMS cars, but rather the entire scrutineering process of the STCC organisers.

”After a discussion with the scrutineers that the weight distribution was not checked following the qualifying session at Alastaro, we decided to lodge a protest on all cars that were selected for control. The protest was not aimed at KMS but rather that we just wanted the organisation to perform the scrutineering process correctly,” said Daniel Haglöf, team co-owner, to TouringCarTimes.

The weight distribution was not checked, according to Haglöf, due to lacking measuring systems.

”It turned out that the organisation did not have the right equipment to check the weight distribution and that is why it wasn’t done. They released a bulletin ahead of race two that the weight distribution was not to be checked. I hope that this will be fixed for Solvalla, otherwise we will have to keep trying to affect this if that means we have to file more protests,” said Haglöf.

”(We) understand that some things are new for the organisation, but if they are not able to check certain things, they have to communicate this in advance.”
