Super TC 2000 drivers call for standing starts to be reintroduced

After the double feature race weekend in Rosario, Argentina, the Super TC 2000 drivers have called for standing starts to be reintroduced to the series, after being discarded in 2012 when the V8 engines were introduced.

The new Radical V8 engines were introduced for the 2012 season, when the series was rebranded from TC2000 to Super TC 2000. At the same time it was decided to switch to rolling start due to technical reasons concerning the first gear reliability.

“I remember the race at La Plata Stadium in 2013, in which we started from zero six times and there were no problems – I don’t know exactly why we don’t try again,” said Matías Rossi from Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina to TouringCarTimes.

Saturday’s feature race winner Facundo Ardusso of Renault Sport concurred: “I don’t know exactly what the series need to work on. But I do want to move back to standing starts, rolling starts almost never give overtaking, it would give good spectacle to start from zero. I think all the drivers agree that we could use standing starts in the race. I’d suggest that you – journalists – ask the engineer and technical experts about if it’s possible and if they want to do so as well.”
