Tom Chilton and Rob Huff explain brief stop in qualifying on Friday

The two Citroëns of Rob Huff and Tom Chilton briefly stopped by the side of the circuit on the Grand Prix loop on Friday as they were preparing for their final run, with the two British drivers explaining why after the session.

Rob Huff pulled his Münnich Citroën C-Elysée off the circuit to restart the system after a brief misfire, before going on to set the time which would put him third on the grid for the main race.

“I had a misfire and had a to do a full reset of the car,” said Huff. “I’m not sure why Tom Chilton decided to stop with me but he parked next to me on the side of the track, which was quite interesting.”

“I’m disappointed of course because we had a car we could have made the pole position with but huge congratulations to Norbi (Michelisz, P1) and Nicky (Catsburg, P2). We’ve been quick all weekend as have the other two I think it wasn’t hard to guess it would come down to the three of us. It’s a good result for the team and it puts us in a good position for the races tomorrow.”

Chilton pulled up behind Huff, before continuing on for his lap with Huff continuing shortly afterwards, going on to qualify sixth, with Chilton explaining why he was behind and then stopped to wait for Huff to continue.

“I wanted a slipstream,” Chilton said to TouringCarTimes. “Then I had in my head Salzburgring (from 2013) so I thought I best keep moving. I knew if I got a tow I’d have a chance. On my first run I left too much of a gap to Tom Coronel, so on this run I thought I’d keep close to Rob.”
