José María López secures Ford 1-2 at General Roca

José Maríá López led a PSG16 Ford team 1-2 in qualifying at General Roca in the Super TC 2000 series, with team-mate Carlos ‘Cacá’ Bueno in second place, with points leader Matías Rossi in third in his Toyota Corolla.

Lopez’s best time of 1:31.420 secured the two-time champion pole position by a quarter of a second over his Brazilian team-mate Bueno, with Rossi almost half a second back in the Toyota Team Argentina Corolla.

Néstor Girolami qualified in fourth place in the Peugeot Cobra Team 408, with Emiliano Spataro the top Renault driver in fifth.

Facundo Ardusso made it two Peugeots in the top ten with the sixth fastest time, followed by two more of the Renault Lo Jack Team entries of Mariano Altuna and Leonel Pernía, with Christian Ledesma the fastest Chevrolet driver in ninth and Mariano Werner, currently second in the championship, completing the top ten in his Toyota Corolla.

The Super 16 heat is the next Super TC 2000 race this weekend and gets underway at 16:00 local time tomorrow.
