Portimão Superstars round to be replaced

The Portuguese round of the 2012 International Superstars Series, which was due to be held on September 16th at Portimão, will be replaced with another event yet to be confirmed.

The Superstars series has competed at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve for the past three years, and the Portuguese circuit in the south of Portugal was set to host the next round of the series in two months’ time, but a joint announcement confirms this arrangement will now be postponed until the 2013 season, with series organisers FG Events & Sports announcing a replacement event on the same date in the next few days, which they say will be a “more affordable option from a logistics point of view.”

The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, which in the last few months has hosted rounds of the FIA World Touring Car and GT1 World Championships is still set to host another five international events in the next few months including a round of the FIM World Superbike Championship.
