Tomas Engström does the double at Östersund

Tomas Engström claimed his first ever STCC double victory in the second race at Östersund. Just as in the first race, the Honda driver took command of the race early on. But Johan Kristoffersson made his way in to the lead in the first couple of laps, a move that proved to cost him dear.

The move on Engström resulted in a penalty lane run for Kristoffersson who dropped down to sixth position, a position he kept until the end of the race.

Title rival Rickard Rydell managed to gain four points on Kristoffersson thanks to this by finishing fourth. The Chevrolet driver was involved in the first lap drama, but lost out and dropped three positions. The race remained static after the first couple of laps.

Jordi Gené claimed his best ever STCC finish in second position, ahead of manufacturer colleague Johan Stureson, who in his turn got revenge from the retirement of the first race which was a result of a misunderstanding where Stureson took a wrong turn at the safety car restart, ending the race for him and team mate Patrik Olsson.

Michel Nykjaer came home in fifth position ahead of Kristoffersson, with Olsson in seventh, Robin Appelqvist in his repaired SEAT León in eighth after his roll in race one. Niclas Olsson and Andreas Ahlberg rounded off the top ten.
