Shedden believes Honda will be strong at Knockhill

Gordon Shedden is looking forward to his home race at the Knockhill circuit in Fife this weekend, with the short 1.3 mile circuit likely to suit the Scotsman’s Honda Civic.

Shedden will be carrying 45kg of ballast this weekend as he was due to be leading the standings, but dropped to second place after he was excluded from the final race at Snetterton two weeks ago after his Honda was discovered to have exceeded its boost limit after the race. If that hadn’t happened, he’d be heading to his home round as the Championship leader ahead of team-mate and 2011 champion Matt Neal.

“It’s a fantastic circuit to drive and it always provides great racing,” said Shedden. “We’re going from the longest, flattest circuits at Snetterton to the shortest and one of the most undulating.”

Reflecting back on the last round, where Shedden took a seventh and a second in the first two races after qualifying in last place following issues on Saturday, with a fuel line fire in practice, Shedden added:
“Snetterton was a disaster – the car was great, but we were just blown away in a straight line. Knockhill has a lot more of the type of corner that should suit us. There’s the drag out of the hairpin, but at least it’s just one big drag instead of three, like at Snetterton.”
