Holden Racing Team shakedown Car of the Future

The Holden Racing Team has shaken down their new 2013 Car of the Future-specification Commodore at Calder Park Raceway today, boasting a striking one-off matt black carbon-fibre livery.

The Commodore is the product of almost 1,500 man-hours from design through to construction. Nick Percat, Dunlop Series driver and reigning Bathurst champion, was the first behind the wheel at Calder Park today.

The Holden Racing Team is the third V8 Supercars team to shake down their Car Of The Future, with Triple Eight Race Engineering and Ford Performance Racing having already debuted their cars.

According to HRT Managing Director Steve Hallam it was a momentous occasion for the team:
“It’s quite a day. This is the first time in seven years that we have designed and built an entirely new car and you can feel the emotion of the occasion throughout the organisation. The Car Of The Future project has taken a lot of blood, sweat, toil and tears. There has been a lot of effort and contributions from everyone within Walkinshaw Racing.

We have a massive learning curve ahead of us with this new car and we will immerse ourselves in it. The preparation for 2013 starts today. Now that we have the car, we have our test program to run through and we can get after it on the race tracks.”

Today’s shakedown comes after the confirmation from the Holden Racing Team earlier this week that Ryan Briscoe, Darren Turner and Peter Dumbreck will pair up with its drivers for the Gold Coast 600.
