Three cars to miss the start of Gold Coast 600 race two

The #33 Garry Rogers Holden, #11 Kelly Racing Holden and the #3 Tony D’Alberto Racing Ford will all miss the start of the second race at Surfers Paradise after damage sustained in the two aborted starts for the first race on Saturday.

The #33 Garry Rogers Motorsport Holden, which was started by Ricky Taylor and was to be shared with Greg Ritter this weekend, hit the back of the #3 Ford Falcon of Vitantonio Liuzzi, which had in turn been held up by the other GRM Holden of James Hinchcliffe at the start and toppled over, with both cars sustaining heavy damage.

In the second attempt at a restart, Franck Montagny in the #11 Kelly Racing Holden clipped the stalled Brad Jones Racing Holden of Nicolas Minassian, with both cars eliminated and the red flag brought out again.

Due to the damage sustained in both starts, the cars which were to be driven by international drivers Ricky Taylor, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Franck Montagny will be forced to miss race two, as will their Australasian co-drivers Greg Ritter, Tony D’Alberto and Karl Reindler.
