D’Aste wins as Muller and Huff tie again on points
Stefano D’Aste claimed his second ever WTCC victory in the second race at Suzuka, leading the race from start to finish. Rob Huff and Yvan Muller are tied in the championship lead with fourth and sixth respectively in the race.
The top seven were close for the majority of the race, but with no overtaking maneuvers until the final two laps.
Pepe Oriola held second position despite hard pressure from manufacturer colleague Gabriele Tarquini who claimed the final podium position.
Huff and Alain Menu, who got past Muller on lap one, were right behind Mehdi Bennani until lap 24 when Huff threw his car on the inside and got past, allowing Menu to follow through. Muller repeated the move one lap later, demoting Bennani to seventh.
Aleksei Dudukalo and Alex MacDowall finished eighth and ninth, with Tiago Monteiro repeating his top ten finish from the first race to score the final point of the race once again.
Norbert Michelisz had a tough race and was tapped around in the second corner, forcing the BMW driver to retire.
