Portuguese ASN refuses Campos’ third driver entry at Vila Real
The president of the Portuguese national sporting authority (ASN) FPAK, Manuel de Mello Breyner, has refused the relevant racing licence for Manuel Pedro Fernandes.
The Portuguese was due to take part this weekend at the Portuguese round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, but his non-participation means Campos Racing are back to fielding two cars for Hugo Valente and John Filippi.
Fernandes had announced he had raised the budget to compete with the team’s third Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 at his home race two weeks’ ago, and would drive the car which was used by Mat’o Homola at the Slovakiaring, but with FPAK deciding not to grant Fernandes with the required documentation to race, the Portuguese round will just have one home driver, Honda’s Tiago Monteiro.
