Roger Eriksson has been penalized after the crash with Robert Dahlgren in the second Swedish Touring Car Championship race at Falkenberg. The SEAT-driver has been given 10 place drop on the grid for the following race as well as a yellow card.
The both were fighting for fifth and initially touched each other just lightly. But moments later, Eriksson gave Dahlgren a hard push in to the side and the both went off track in one of the fastest corner of the Falkenberg circuit.
Dahlgren hit the tyre barriers with the rear, shortening his Volvo C30 considerably, while Eriksson hit the barriers with the front end of his SEAT Léon. Both drivers were unhurt.
"It was extremely unnecessary, that is what I can say about it. It was a hard hit, but luckily the hit came from behind and that always makes it easier," said Dahlgren after the crash to STCC.se.
Eriksson was not pleased with the penalty and did not see that he was to blame for it.
"Dahlgren pushed me off in the previous corner, I got a wheel outside the track and started to wobble. As I see it there was nothing I could do," said Eriksson.
