Nykjaer takes victory at race one in Austria
Michel Nykjaer took the victory at the first ETCC race at the Salzburgring ahead of James Thompson and Tomas Engström.
In a dry race, the Honda Accord Euro-R of James Thompson was no match for the TDI power around the short straights of the Salzburgring, and the 2007-2008 ETCC champion took the first race of the day almost two seconds ahead of Thompson.

As this is Nykjaer's first race of the cup, he's still 14 points behind Thompson in the standings. Thompson extends his championship points to 24, his closest rival is Tomas Engström with 16, with Cesar Campaniço third on 15, with Kristian Poulsen next on 14 - but neither Campaniço or Poulsen are racing this weekend.
