The Tokyo 2008 Motorshow was launched today. Lexus had present in their booth the prototype called IS F Racing Concept. A number of pictures of the car during testing in Japan was released, shown on this page. As of yet no details are released on the prototype but is expected to be shortly.
Lexus and Toyota has previously shown great interest in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. A couple of years ago the Japanese manufacturer bought an ex-DTM Opel Vectra for studies.
While the DTM is in dire need of a new manufacturer along side Audi and Mercedes there are still a lot of questionmarks regarding the recent indications of Lexus joining the series. We have received information that the prototype could have links to the endurance series ALMS.
According to our reports Toyota often build prototypes of different racing series to evaluate the situation without committing to enter the series.
