Alain Menu snatched the final pole position of the FIA World Touring Car Championship 2008. The Swiss-driver lapped the track in 2:30.285, 0.173 seconds faster than reigning champion Andy Priaulx. Perhaps soon to be come champion Yvan Muller took an important step towards the title by taking third. His rival, and team mate, for the title Gabriele Tarquini is only eight!
Robert Huff also got his chances improved to steal second away from Tarquini in the championship by taking fourth, only 0.015 seconds behind Muller.
Augusto Farfus who was fastest in all of the previous practice sessions only managed to get fifth fastest time ahead of Jordi Gené in sixth.
Rickard Rydell, who is gunning for third in the championship, qualified sixth ahead of Tarquini. Nicola Larini and Jörg Müller rounded off top ten ahead of James Thompson.
Best independents driver was the new champion Sergio Hernandez in 15th, his closest rival is Franz Engstler in 18th.
