Talking moments after discussing his “incredible season” with an on looking crowd the Northern Irishman said:

“Nothing is decided at the moment, I’m keeping my options open in terms of British Touring Cars, World Touring Cars and the European stuff, so myself and WSR aren’t committed to anything.

“For sure it’s always good to race outside Britain, it’s something that we’re looking at.”

As for the possibility that his future lies away from WSR, Turkington said, “Everybody’s talking to everybody else so it takes time to do deals, so I have no idea when a decision will be made.

“There’s plenty of teams keen on me driving their cars, but having the money to do it is another issue. There’s very few teams now with the money to pay a driver to race, most of the teams need some money so it’s a difficult situation.”

Not helping matters is the current state of flux of touring car racing in Europe following cutbacks amongst manufacturer teams.

“2010 may be a bit of a transitional year with what’s going to happen in the future” said Turkington, “So it’s difficult to know where the best place to be is.

“I think it is important that I stay racing this year and then see what happens after that.”

Turkington is pleased with the new WSR livery he helped launch earlier in the day, saying “It does look really smart. That’s just an interim livery as there’s a few new sponsors on there in eBayMotors.co.uk and Alvara, but I think the hope is that there’ll be another major sponsor to replace RAC”.
