Former Production Class runner-up Alan Blencowe is aiming to rejoin the BTCC grid in 2010. Blencowe, who competed in the series in 2002 and 2003, is hoping to re-enter the series with Tech-Speed in a Honda Integra.
But the move by the 33-year-old Wiltshire racer, who has received other offers to rejoin the championship, is dependent on sponsors, so not a done a deal yet, although Blencowe has told TouringCarTimes that he is “very much trying to get back into the BTCC.”
Blencowe came 7th in the Production Class in 2002, driving an Alfa Romeo 156 for Gary Ayles Motorsport. A year later he finished runner-up in the class behind teammate Luke Hines, racing a Honda Civic Type-R for Barwell Motorsport and taking one win in the Production Class at the penultimate race of the year at Oulton Park.
The 2000 Ford Fiesta Zetec Winter Cup winner is also a former runner-up in the SEAT Cupra Championship, having finished second to Mat Jackson in 2006.
Blencowe's own team, Alan Blencowe Racing, recently committed to the new-for-2010 Chevrolet Cruze Cup.
