David Coulthard tested for Mercedes-Benz on Thursday & Friday at the Alcazaba circuit in Spain, fuelling speculation he may join a long list of F1 drivers to try out Germany's premier touring series.
David Coulthard is the UK's most experienced Formula 1 driver, having started 247 Grands Prix during his 14 year career in the sport.
Coulthard races for the majority of his F1 career in a Mercedes powered McLaren, joining the McLaren Mercedes team in 1996, and leaving to join the then brand new Red Bull Racing team in 2004.
Key Formula 1 racers who have tried their hand at the DTM after their F1 career include Jean Alesi, Mika Hakkinen, Heinz-Harald Frentzen & Ralf Schumacher.
Whether Coulthard is looking for an actual drive in the DTM, or if this is more a promotional event is not yet clear.
No times were published as part of this private test.
Coulthard has already been confirmed as part of the UK's Formula 1 TV coverage team - although there aren't any clashes between the DTM and F1 calendar this year, travelling to all events on both calendars would be an extremely heavy schedule.
