FPR bounce back to take a one-two
The Ford Performance Racing drivers bounced back to take a one-two in the final race in the SkyCity Triple Crown at Hidden Valley.
It was Steven Richards that took the win ahead of his FPR team mate Mark Winterbottom who left the track as Championship points leader in the 2008 series.
Taking another third place from the weekend was the Toll Holden Racing Team’s Garth Tander to go with his win from race two.
Fourth place was expected to be one of the Team Vodafone Falcons of either Jamie Whincup who dropped to ninth place after contact with Tander during a re-start or Craig Lowndes who failed to finish due to a rare engine failure in the Ford.
It was left to Super Cheap’s Russell Ingall to equal his best result of the series with a fourth place finish in his Holden.
Fifth went to the DJR Ford of Will Davidson, sixth was Rick Kelly and hard-charger James Courtney was seventh up from the 24th spot on the grid, which was remarkable enough, but Courtney had to drive almost half the race with a sick sounding engine.
Completing the top ten were Whincup trying to recover from his earlier collision, Shane van Gisbergen and Greg Murphy making an impression over the weekend in his Sprint Gas Racing Holden Commodore.
