Camirand wins opening race of CCTCC
Marc-Antoine Camirand has won the first race of the 2010 Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship in his BMW M-Coupé.
Marc-Antoine Camirand started from pole position at Mosport, and just managed to stay ahead of 2009 champion Nick Wittmer to claim the win.
“For the first few laps it was pretty close. After that I got a couple of good laps and was able to pull the gap a little bit more, but it was a tough race.” said Camirand.
In the Touring Car Class, Compass 360/Durabond Racing had a very successful first race together, with Anthony Rapone winning in class with team mate & owner Karl Thomson finishing second in their Honda Civic Si’s.
Octane Motorsports P.J. Groenke finished 3rd in his Mini Cooper.
The second race of the weekend takes place on Sunday.
