Marchy Lee and Fabio Fabiani to skip Porto

KK Motorsport driver Marchy Lee and Proteam Racing driver Fabio Fabiani will again be absent from the grid, after both missing the last round at Brno as well.

Fabiani’s absence from the Championship means there are no normally aspirated petrol fuelled cars in competition in the FIA World Touring Car Championship for the second consecutive event this weekend. Proteam will continue to field a pair of turbocharged BMW 320 TCs for Mehdi Bennani and Javier Villa.

Marchy Lee has now missed the last two rounds of the Championship, with Porto becoming his third.

Kurt Treml, Team Manager for Engstler Motorsport which run the car for Marchy Lee, explained to TouringCarTimes a new sponsorship deal that Lee has signed requires a redesign of the cars livery and pit garage, as well as advanced approval from the circuits they will be racing at. As a result, the Hong Kong driver will likely be returning for Donington Park or Oschersleben later in July.
