Thate Motorsport add car for reigning champion Leidinger

2011 ADAC Procar Series champion Johannes Leidinger will return to the grid this weekend at the Nürburgring, driving the #1 Thate Motorsport BMW 320si in the Series’ Division 1 class.

Jens Weimann has already secured the drivers’ title for Thate Motorsport, having won every round of the season so far, and by adding his 2011 championship rival in a second car, he’s effectively added someone who will be quite capable of stopping him from achieving a perfect record of victories to the grid for the final two rounds.

Last year 25-year-old Leidinger raced for the Liqui-Moly Team Engstler squad, securing his first title but didn’t return to defend it this season. He will be going up against his old team as Engstler field Paul Green in the Super 2000-spec Division 1 class this weekend, as well as two cars in the Super 1600 Division 2 class.

The addition of a second car for Thate Motorsport this weekend is a precursor of the team’s plans to run two cars next season in the ADAC Procar Series.
