MM Motorsport announce Eric Scalvini for 2017 title assault

Brescia-based MM Motorsport have announced a two-car programme with Honda Civic TCRs for the 2017 TCR Italy season. The team will also represent touring car powerhouse JAS Motorsport, who design and build the Japanese cars.

The only driver announced so far is 22-year-old Eric Scalvini, who returns to touring cars after a brief spell at Porsche in the Carrera Cup Italia. Scalvini was a serious contender for the highly-competitive SEAT León Cup Italia in 2015, as well as a long-standing competitor in Abarth one-make series.

“We are very excited with this new project”, said team owner Emanuele Alborghetti. “We firmly believe in the TCR concept and we are happy to have the JAS technical staff on board with us.”

MM Motorsport, who ran Aku Pellinen in his victorious TCR Italy outing at Monza, will race with the clear goal of clinching the title: “We are in for a long-term project, and we surely want to replicate what Roberto Colciago has done last year with the Civic.”

The team did not rule out the possibility of taking part in one or more events of the TCR International Series: “We are working to take part in some international event, we don’t rule out having some exciting news coming up in the next few months.”

The championship, which has been recently rebadged as the TCR Italy Touring Car Championship, will kick off at Adria on May 7th.
