Rob Huff joins Jean-Karl Vernay at Spa Francorchamps

Rob Huff will make his TCR Benelux series debut this weekend, when he joins Jean-Karl Vernay at Team WRT, with the team filing a late entry to race in the opening round of the series.

WRT are the third TCR International Series squad to confirm their attendance at the opening round of the Belgium-based series after Comtoyou Racing and DG Sport Compétition; a perfect test opportunity ahead of their race there in two weeks’ time.

Vernay, who currently leads the drivers’ standings by one point, will also be making his Benelux series debut. Vernay and Huff’s car is the third entry run by the team this weekend, in addition to their Volkswagen Golf for Matthieu Detry and Maxime Potty, and a SEAT León TCR for Sam Dejonghe and Denis Dupont.

It’ll be Huff’s first time racing a TCR-spec car since the Macau season finale in 2015, when he drove WestCoast Racing’s Honda Civic TCR to victory at the of the Guia Race 2.0T.

“I’m really looking forward to this opportunity to race with such a great team as WRT,” said Huff. “They’ve been of the top teams in motorsport for years, and to race with them at Spa-Francorchamps, also one of my favourite circuits is fantastic.

“I’m also really looking forward to racing with Jean-Karl. He’s a fast driver and I’m sure we’re going to work well together. I’ve got a lot of experience in GT racing, so I’m used sharing a car during a weekend, though it’s not so often I do it with a touring car, so it’s going to be an interesting experience.”
