Andreas Pfister plans to contest the 2017 ETCC with his SEAT

Andreas Pfister will return to the ETCC full-time for 2017, racing his DSG-equipped SEAT León Cup Racer from this weekend at Monza.

The 29-year-old raced in the season finale at Imola last year with his team Pfister Racing, while the team competed in the two first rounds with Pierre Humbert and Wolfgang Kriegl in the ETCC’s Super 2000 Trophy class.

Now renamed ETCC 1 Cup, Pfister will contest all six events of the 2017 Cup, subject to the FIA and TCR series coming to a resolution of the use of TCR cars for the season.

“I’m proud to be back in FIA ETCC,” said Pfister. “It was very hard work in winter to get the needed budget, and I want to thank everyone who is involved in this, especially my sponsors.

“We know we will have a disadvantage with the DSG gearbox against the sequential cars, but the season is long and we will be there if there is a chance.”
