AmDTuning.com chasing Independent honours for 2018 BTCC campaign

AmDTuning.com team boss Shaun Hollamby says he is keen to see his team challenge for the Independents title in 2018 after confirming that the Audi squad will return to the series next year.

The new campaign will be the second in which the team has run two cars on a full-time basis, having introduced a second Audi S3 this year for Ant Whorton-Eales alongside the car of Ollie Jackson.

Running the new RML-spec parts for the first time, the Audi become ever more competitive as the season went on, with Jackson and Whorton-Eales helping the team to it’s best points haul since debuting in the series back in 2010.

Talks with potential drivers – including both Jackson and Whorton-Eales – are already underway, with Hollamby saying he was keen to see his team make further strides up the grid in the BTCC’s 60th anniversary season.

“As ever when a season ends, we have taken time to evaluate our options but it is a no-brainer for us to commit to the BTCC for another year,” he said. “We made huge steps forward over the course of 2017 and thanks to Ollie and Ant, ended the season with our best points haul and the strongest package we have ever had in the series.

“It is important for us to now capitalise on the hard work that has gone into the Audi in order to maximise our chances of success on track during 2018.

“We are keen to strengthen the engineering side of the team to build on the progress we have made so far, and are already in discussions with drivers as we look to put together the strongest pairing we can to fight for the Independents’ titles.

“Whilst we are aware that that will be a big challenge, there is no doubt in my mind that we now have a car that is capable of running right at the sharp end of the grid and our expectations need to reflect that.

“I’m confident that with the plans we are working towards, this season will prove to be a stepping stone to bigger and better things in 2018 and beyond.”
