Andy Yan takes pole position for TCR China races at Ningbo

NewFaster Racing Team’s Andy Yan topped the two qualifying sessions on Friday for this weekend’s round of the TCR China series at the Ningbo International Speedpark in China, leading ahead of the TeamWork Volkswagens of Sunny Wong & Alex Fun in Q1, and Alex Hui in Q2

In Q2, Hui briefly put his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR on top, but the officials deleted the lap due a track limits violation, which put the Hong Kong driver back down to second on the grid ahead of his team-mates.

“I’m glad to be on pole, but the time difference is barely anything,” said Yan. “I’m looking forward to the races tomorrow. They will be close and exciting ones.”

Second on the grid Alex Hui said:

“In Q1, my lap time wasn’t ideal and my engineer quickly went through some data analysis with me and pointed out a few importand aspects just before Q2 and I immediately improved. Too bad my potential pole lap was deleted because I went wide at Turn 10.”

Third on the grid is Hui’s team-mate Sunny Wong, who suffered a fuel pressure problem late in the session.

“We found a good set-up for the car during FP1 and 2, unfortunately in qualifying we had a fuel pressure problem and couldn’t go any better than P3,” said Wong. “I’m still looking forward to battling with a proper car during the race.”

The first race is scheduled for 10:10 CST on Saturday (03:10 CET).
