Roberto Colciago and Mat’o Homola punished for incidents in Dubai

M1RA’s Roberto Colciago and DG Sport Compétition’s Mat’o Homola were both punished for incidents in the first race at Dubai.

Colciago was involved in an incident which brought out the safety car on lap five. Colciago was judged to have collided with Craft-Bamboo Racing SEAT driver Dan Lloyd, which put Lloyd out of the race and also meant that Colciago himself was unable to take part in Race 2 .

The 49-year-old was fined 500 EUR by the stewards, as he hadn’t finished the race so no time penalty was appropriate, and there’s no next race in which to apply a grid penalty.

Slovakia’s Mat’o Homola’s weekend was rendered pointless after he was given a 30-second penalty for an unsafe rejoin in the first race, which drops him out of the points from eighth. The Opel driver failed to finish Race 2, meaning he scored no points from the weekend, while Icarus Motorsports’ Duncan Ende was promoted to the final points-paying position in Race 1.
