Josh Cook returns to Power Maxed Racing

Josh Cook will return to the team that gave him his BTCC debut for the 2018 season after being named as the first driver in the Power Maxed Racing line-up for the new campaign.

The 26-year-old made his debut with PMR back in 2015 at the wheel of Chevrolet Cruze, taking a best finish of third at Rockingham en-route to 15th overall in the championship; winning the Jack Sears Trophy as top rookie in the process.

Cook then moved on to the Triple Eight-run factory MG squad for 2016 before a challenging 2017 campaign that saw him start the year with Maximum Motorsport before making a return to MG after the departure of Dan Lloyd.

“I’m so happy to be returning home to PMR,” said Cook. “I always wanted to stay there after winning the Jack Sears Trophy with them in both of our first years in the championship, but things just didn’t quite line up for all parties to do that.

“They were fantastic in my first season and having watched them closely and visited the premises recently there’s no doubt they’ve managed to improve massively; investment has gone in to all areas and the Astra looks so well built. I’m so excited.”

Team boss Adam Weaver was delighted to welcome his former driver back into the fold.

“I am delighted to welcome Josh back to PMR,” he said. “We are a very different organisation to those early days and Josh has also developed as a driver. I am looking toward a very strong season.”
