Niko Kankkunen and Théo Coicaud in five-car entry from Team Engstler

Team Engstler will field five Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR race cars for the 2018 TCR Germany season.

Drivers of the German cars will be Niko Kankkunen and Théo Coicaud, as well as already confirmed Luca Engstler, Florian Thoma and Justin Häußermann.

”With the addition of our last two drivers, we have a powerful team for 2018. We look forward to the challenges of the ADAC TCR Germany and with our first tests as well as already taking part in the TCR Middle East, the result makes us feel confident,” said team owner Franz Engstler.

Finnish driver Niko Kankkunen is the son of four-times World Rally champion Juha Kankkunen. The 19-year-old took part in the 2017 TCR Germany for LMS Racing, finishing 21st overall with seventh as best place.

French driver Coicaud has tested for the team earlier this year and comes from a background of single seaters, also receiving support from his mentor and reigning TCR International Series champion Jean Karl Vernay.

The team is planning to start testing in Germany in March.
